The grief and frustration surrounding the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg continue to grow, as his wife, Garima Garg, publicly voiced her anguish and demanded justice. On social media, Garima wrote, “Right now, in my mind, brain, body, and soul, there is only one thought: #WeWantJustice… A soul like Zubeen Garg cannot be neglected.”
Earlier, on October 8, she had posted, “20 days… Am I really alive?” expressing the deep pain and confusion she felt after losing her husband. Her posts have resonated widely, drawing attention from political leaders and the public alike.
In response, Raijor Dal President Akhil Gogoi extended his support to Garima Garg’s plea for justice. He commented on her posts, saying, “We feel the same way. How are we surviving without uncovering the mystery behind the death of someone so close to every Assamese, like Zubeen? Twenty days have passed, and yet there is no answer. We need only one thing: to know who killed Assam’s beloved Zubeen Garg. Why did it happen? Why was his life ended so casually, without any accountability?”
Earlier, Congress leader and Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President, Mira Borthakur Goswami, had also spoken out on the case. She questioned the police actions, including handcuffing and invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against music director Ajoy Phukan and others. She said, “Is there any justification for the police to handcuff someone while seeking justice for Zubeen Garg’s death? Times are very cruel today. What will happen tomorrow after those in power retire?”
